For my representative work, I chose the ''Starry Night'' painting by Vincent Van Gogh. The details that are important to me in this painting are the dark colors. It shows what Vincent Van Gogh was going through while making this painting. During this time, Vincent Van Gogh was staying at a hospital and was going through depression. He was getting better at first but then his mental health went downhill. One thing that I like about this painting is that the sky is tranquil and dreamlike. While the town seems dark and distant from the sky. For me, mental health is very important because it can significantly affect a person's life. Mental health can bring serious consequences when not taken seriously or ignored. When ignored, people will feel alone and judged by the people around them. However, we all process our emotions in different ways. Some of us tend to shut ourselves out of the outside world or bottle up our emotions inside. Others are aware that they need help but are scared of being vulnerable to others. People should feel comfortable talking about their mental health to people they trust and know will have their back. Just taking baby steps in taking care of ourselves can make a big difference. Over time, people can build up the courage to seek help. In life, we never know what the person next to us is going through which is why we should be kind to one another. I have been in situations where I see someone and think to myself that their life must be great but come to find out that they are going through a great challenge in life. This painting is a reminder to myself that we all are going through different stages in our lives and we have to take care of our well-being.
